35mm film photograph

When I studied abroad in Beijing, I would often go to the school gym in the afternoons. The gym was underneath the stadium stairs and was small, dirty, and frequently visited by students. I began to make friends at the gym and started to like going despite the peeling wall plaster and grime. As the season turned from spring to summer and the days got longer and warmer, my feelings for the gym also grew. I took this photo on 35mm film on my Chinon CE-5 towards the end of my time in Beijing. I think it encapsulates my changing feelings towards the gym, but also a nostalgia about Beijing and leaving my semester abroad.
